Remember Nineveh

Remember Nineveh
By Michael Brookbank

She was a vine
That the LORD did provide

She brought my face a smile
And a shade for comfort
...but only for a little while

‘Cause something ate away at her
Until her heart died and withered
And I’ve grown angry enough to die
LORD, why didn’t you take me with her?

(and the LORD replied,)

“If she was indeed a vine
Then you did not tend her
Or let her grow
You have no right to have anger

Because there is a world out there
Who can’t tell their right hand from their left
And I have called you for this purpose:
LOVE, especially in your depths.”
