Odysseus

Odysseus

by Michael Brookbank

Fill your ears with wax

And don't listen to a word I say

Tie me down to the mast

A desperate man would do anything to get his way

And as I listen as the wind is pushed

Out from the lungs beneath their breasts

The sound moves throughout my body rushed

From the pounding heart under my chest

The sirens' song has me begging for more

Men, can't you see this love? Please untie me

We can pass these rocks and make it to shore

But they only ignored me and explained quite simply

"Love is such a beautiful sound

But to be mistaken can leave a man drowned"
